Instructor 1

(Instructor) has not only served as a dual credit instructor for more than 15 years, but also as one of the most pivotal reasons students take dual credit courses in the Illinois Valley Community College district. (Instructor) currently provides psychology courses for six high schools during the academic year in addition to providing coursework on our main campus. (Instructor) is an exceptional teacher who captivates students daily with his lectures. (Instructor) can provide stories and examples from his past career as an attorney as well as roguer in corn fields in the area during summer. The care he provides his students goes above and beyond what is required, his priority is to provide them a great first experience with college coursework. In his daily work and over the course of his entire employment at (the college), (Instructor) has had unwavering dedication to the dual credit program and the benefits that come along with it. As a Dual Credit Committee member at the institutional level, (Instructor) provides information back to the college about student performance and regular updates about things he is experiencing in the high school setting. He is also passionate about (the college) and the opportunities the college provides to our area students. His family’s legacy is also embedded in (the college’s) history. His own teaching style and tenure at (the college) will make him a legacy within (the college’s) history as well.

Instructor 2:

I highly recommend (Instructor) as an exceptional math teacher who consistently goes above and beyond to support students, particularly those struggling with their math skills. (Instructor) dedicates significant time throughout the day to working with students who need additional help, ensuring that every learner receives the attention and support they require to succeed. His approach is thoughtful and personalized, focusing on addressing individual misconceptions and providing clear, step-by-step explanations that build students' understanding and confidence. (Instructor’s) commitment to student success is evident in his willingness to work outside of regular class hours, often offering extra help during lunch or after school. He has a remarkable ability to simplify complex concepts and make them accessible to all learners, regardless of their proficiency level. His patient and encouraging demeanor fosters a positive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes, knowing they will receive the guidance they need to improve.

Instructor 3:

Please consider this nomination for dual-credit instructor. (Instructor) has taught a variety of dual-credit classes, including speech/communications courses, English composition courses, and education courses. I am writing this letter particularly in support of her English composition courses. (Instructor) currently teaches ENG111/112 (Freshman Composition 1&2) for XXX High School while being employed at XXX High School. Due to their rural and remote status, XXX High School has been unable to employ a dual-credit qualified English teacher. To ensure their students receive the same opportunities, (Instructor) works in partnership with the other high school (who schedules time to teach at the other high school in her schedule). That high school (which has a Zoom room set up so students can have live class with her), and XXX College (the college partner that facilitates this partnership) to ensure that the students of XXX High School have the same ability to get this head-start in writing that students across the rest of the district receive. Her students report learning and growing as writers in her class, and despite the physical distance between students and teacher, the students enjoy her teaching enough that they came up to the school to give her a blanket they made as a baby shower present. This partnership has been so successful that she hopes to see it expanded someday to include her speech classes as well. (Instructor) is a dedicated educator who is committed to equity in the realm of dual-credit and ensuring that all students have opportunities, regardless of where they currently reside.

Instructor 4: 

(Instructor’s) passion for exposing students to new ideas, texts, cultures, and perspectives is unmatched. In his Dual Credit Diversity in American Theater course, he is opening minds and changing long-held beliefs. He is helping students to think about challenging subjects through the lenses of others, and he is pointing out stereotypes in an effort to break them. Students currently taking his class have said that they enjoy it, they are learning a great deal, and that they have never thought about some of the ideas presented to them. It is for these reasons, that (Instructor) should be named the dual credit instructor of the year.

Instructor 5:

I am pleased to nominate (Instructor), an exceptional dual credit instructor and automotive teacher at XXX High School, for the ILACEP Instructor of the Year Award. With 31 years of teaching experience, (Instructor) has consistently demonstrated a passion for innovation and a deep commitment to student success. As the instructor of the school’s automotive program, (Instructor) not only imparts technical knowledge but also inspires students to explore the automotive world beyond the classroom. Through his partnership with XXX College, he offers dual credit opportunities that allow students to earn college-level credits while gaining hands-on experience. This collaboration has significantly expanded students' career pathways in the automotive field, and many of his students have gone on to pursue successful careers in automotive technology. (Instructor’s) work with the school’s high-mileage vehicle project is a perfect example of his innovative approach. He guides students through the process of building and driving the vehicle, offering a real-world experience that strengthens their skills and confidence. Additionally, (Instructor) continually seeks external opportunities to further students’ learning, collaborating with industry partners to give students exposure to cutting-edge technologies and career opportunities. Through his dedication, expertise, and forward-thinking teaching methods, (Instructor) has positively impacted the lives of countless students, making him an outstanding candidate for this prestigious award.

Instructor 6

(Instructor) is an outstanding dual credit instructor whose dedication to student success goes far beyond the classroom. Currently teaching Automotive Technology at XXX High School in partnership with XXX College, (Instructor) is known for his unwavering commitment to ensuring all students have access to rigorous academic opportunities. One of his most remarkable qualities is his advocacy for students, especially those who may not initially recognize their potential. When faced with resistance regarding a particular student’s placement in his dual credit course, (Instructor) refused to back down. He saw the student’s capabilities and fought to ensure they received the opportunity they deserved. Through persistence, thoughtful discussions with administrators, and a deep belief in the student’s ability to succeed, (Instructor) secured their place in the class. Not only did this student thrive under his guidance, but they also gained confidence, excelled in the course, and are now on a clear path toward higher education and a career in the automotive industry. This is just one example of his dedication—he consistently pushes boundaries to make dual credit accessible to more students, ensuring they are challenged, supported, and prepared for future academic and career success. His passion for teaching, relentless advocacy, and belief in his students make him an exceptional dual credit instructor who truly changes lives.

I am honored to nominate (Instructor) for the 2025 ILACEP Outstanding Dual Credit Instructor Award. (Instructor’s) dedication to student success is unmatched, as she teaches six different math courses, including five dual credit classes. Her offerings range from technical math to college algebra, calculus, and statistics, ensuring that students with diverse career aspirations have the opportunity to earn college credit while still in high school. (Instructor's) commitment extends beyond the classroom—she collaborates with three different local community colleges each year, demonstrating exceptional initiative in aligning curriculum and supporting students through the dual credit process. She is always willing to take on any challenge, whether it’s adapting to new curriculum standards, supporting students with varying skill levels, or expanding opportunities for dual credit programs. (Instructor) is also an innovative educator, continuously finding creative ways to engage students and make complex math concepts more accessible. Her professionalism, expertise, and kind personality create an environment where students feel confident tackling even the most challenging material. (Instructor) goes above and beyond to make higher education accessible and achievable for all learners. Her dedication to academic excellence, student empowerment, and innovative teaching methods makes her an outstanding candidate for this award.

Instructor 8

(Instructor) is an outstanding educator dedicated to providing his students with life-changing opportunities through his dual-credit automotive program. His partnership with XXX College allows students to earn college credit while still in high school, giving them a head start in their careers. Beyond the classroom, (Instructor) goes above and beyond to help students secure scholarships, industry certifications, and employment in the automotive field. His commitment to student success is evident in the strong relationships he builds with local employers, ensuring his students have access to real-world experiences and job placements. (Instructor’s) passion for education and workforce development makes him a deserving candidate for the ILACEP Instructor of the Year award. XXX High School and District XXX are lucky to have him!

Instructor 9:

(Instructor) is an amazing Dual Credit Communications teacher for XXX High School. I have had the honor of working with (Instructor) on a professional level in my role as Director of Dual Credit at XXX College and as a parent where all four of my children were lucky to have him as a teacher. On a professional level, (Instructor) is always on top of the requirements for the College. He openly communicates any concerns and works with us to be sure his curriculum is on track. The feedback I have received from my own kids and their friends is that (Instructor) is the best teacher at XXX High School. He makes speech fun and relatable. From the beginning of the semester to the end, he continuously encourages students, he includes everyone and works hard to make everyone feel comfortable speaking in front of others. He challenges them with a variety of assignments and makes their classwork fun. I whole-heartedly recommend (Instructor) for the 2025 Outstanding Dual Credit Instructor Award.

Instructor 10

(Instructor) is an exceptional educator and leader in our Dual Credit Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) program. He not only teaches the CNA course but also organizes and coordinates all clinical placements for students at multiple hospitals, nursing homes, and healthcare facilities in the area. His dedication ensures that students have hands-on experiences that prepare them for real-world nursing careers, helping them achieve CNA certification before they graduate from high school. (Instructor) goes above and beyond to build meaningful relationships with his students, connecting with them on both personal and professional levels. Having firsthand experience in the nursing field, he understands the dedication and hard work required to succeed, which allows him to mentor and guide students effectively. His lessons are engaging, interactive, and hands-on, creating a dynamic learning environment that motivates students to excel. Thanks to (Instructor’s) strong leadership, our health careers pathway continues to grow each year, positively impacting more students than ever before. His commitment extends beyond the classroom—this summer, he even volunteered to teach a STEM Camp class for middle school students, inspiring the next generation of healthcare professionals. (Instructor’s) unwavering dedication has opened countless doors for students, providing them with opportunities they never imagined possible. We are incredibly grateful for his guidance, support, and passion for shaping the future of healthcare through education.

Instructor 11

(Instructor) is an outstanding dual credit composition instructor! She is genuine in her interactions with all of her students and she strives to provide each and every student with targeted and helpful feedback so that they can grow as writers. She encourages students who doubt themselves by reminding them they are currently enrolled, and succeeding, in a college course. (Instructor) was the first dual credit instructor we had on our campus, and she has set the bar high for those who have followed in our dual credit journey. (Instructor) is deserving of the Dual Credit Instructor of the Year Award.

Instructor 12

(Instructor) teaches College Advanced Graphic Design, a dual credit class with XXX College. His dedication to giving students real-world experience is unmatched. (Instructor) innovates by using cutting-edge technology, just like professional graphic design studios. But his influence goes beyond the classroom. He's built partnerships with local graphic art shops, showing students the many opportunities in a graphic arts career. This community connection leads directly to student success. Many graduates have smoothly entered successful careers in the graphic arts industry, proving (Instructor’s) effective teaching and mentorship. He's a valued colleague, always ready to share his knowledge and help others. His commitment to student success and innovative teaching make him an outstanding dual credit instructor.

Instructor 13:

(Instructor) is an English 121 teacher at XXX High School. He teaches 3 sections of his class and is as enthusiastic about helping students as any teacher I have worked with. He is thorough about getting all of his students signed up and makes sure he emphasizes the benefits of his class and dual credit as a whole. He is the most responsive and responsible teacher I have had the pleasure to have worked with. He goes above and beyond to help his students and give them opportunities to succeed. He encourages students to come use our writing center to get help and see what college is like when you need help. This year he continued a successful partnership with (the college) by helping set up tours of the (college) campus for his students. He encouraged them to embrace being college students in high school and encouraged them to get their college ID’s and to be proud of themselves for getting them. His students got complimented by the tour guides as the politest and engaging of any high school group the student the ambassadors had done tours for. This I believe he is a reflection of the respect and appreciation his students have for him. These are all the reasons I believe (Instructor) is an outstanding dual credit instructor and is worthy of this recognition.
